We are getting so much out of him as he is both smart and well trained…
Our first Bernese Mountain Dog, Macduff, was a wonderful gentle giant from a puppy onwards. We thought that we knew the breed but when we got our new puppy, MacLeod – wow!! We realized that we did not. He stole anything that he could, surfed the counters, ate socks, chewed his way out of his wooden pen – three times! and just generally misbehaved. He was clearly very smart but would not obey any commands and simply pleased himself. We decided to send him to boot camp and turned to Kerry for help. When we got him back after three weeks he was much calmer and Kerry took us through the training and what to now expect of the dog. He would consistently obey basic commands, especially the most important one of all “Come!!” However he continued to be an opportunist thief and steal socks, dishcloths and absolutely anything edible that he could find when we were not looking.Kerry came to our home for a second training session but rather than do that we sat and talked about his behavior and the fact that we had to clean up virtually every morning as his food was clearly not agreeing with him.
Kerry recommended an electronic educator to correct his behaviour and suggested that we put him on a raw diet. She trained us and him with the new collar and showed us that it does not cause any pain to the dog, almost immediately his behaviour began to improve. Over the course of three months we have had to use this less and less and are at a point now where we don’t even have his collar on but just show him the handset and we have his attention.
The raw food diet has worked wonders. His stool has been solid for several months and there have been no more clean ups required.
So here he is at 10 months old, a lovely adorable animal. We are getting so much out of him as he is both smart and well trained.
Many thanks Kerry we are now so enjoying our puppy – we would never have got here without you!!

Panda is the perfect dog when out and about now…
I just want you to know how much I appreciated all that you did for me and my three wonderful dogs for the last two years! Thanks to you, Panda is the perfect dog when out and about now. She is totally manageable and so much more tolerant when around other dogs. Cash is still a perfect dog as a result of your skilled training. My son, Antonio, now gets to swing and ride on all his toys with wheels without being charged at! Mikey, the monster, is still a work in progress since you left US for Colorado. LOL But he is a very different dog then when we first brought him home, thanks to you! The tools and the knowledge that you shared with me was instrumental in my having a happy family. I continue to use the knowledge; you shared with me, on a daily basis.
We miss you and wish you well in your new business. I have no doubt that you will be very successful as you are extremely personable and have an innate ability with animals. You are the best trainer I have ever known, and believe me I have known many.
Thanks so much,
Kristen Testa
Now we can all enjoy time with Ben…
We are extremely happy that we were able to train with Kerry as our instructor! After training with Kerry, we became sure that everyone in the family including Ben, our Cock-a-poo, would live together with satisfaction. Before training, Ben would bark continuously at people out of fear, especially towards men. However, after learning a command called “place”, he started to calm down and would be able to stay without feeling overwhelmed. During walks, we would use commands such as “sit” or “heel” to keep him occupied when walking by pedestrians. While occupied, he would not bark or lunge at people walking by, and the commands also work when he spots squirrels.
We as owners were also trained as well. We learned that each dogs need a different way of approaching and conquering training. We learned that for Ben, who would get overwhelmed by the fear of strangers, it is important to calm him down by letting him know that he is managed and safe.
We were also advised to slim Ben down a bit since he was losing the contour of his belly like dogs his kind were supposed to have and he would be too full to receive treats. His fullness connected to his obedience using treats; He would not listen to our commands when using treats because he did not want the treats. We started a raw meat diet for him, which was one of the few suggestions Kerry had given us, and we saw a difference after about a week. His running seemed to be lighter than before and his body’s proper shape could be seen. He would also be hungry enough to want the treats we give him, which made training much easier.
Again, we are extremely grateful to Kerry and her guidance. Now we can all enjoy time with Ben while Ben himself is feeling good.
Thank you,
The Yoshidas
Kerry taught her commands that helped Maggie calm down…
We got Maggie as a puppy from the SPCA. A few weeks later, I found out I was pregnant! Maggie is definitely a quirky dog. In our first few months with her, she was aggressive, hyperactive, and demanding. But, Maggie also had a sweet and loving side. As my belly got bigger, we got more and more nervous that Maggie would not cope well with a baby in the house. We decided to work with Kerry, to see if she could help!! Maggie did 1 on 1 training in our house with Kerry, as well as a three-week intensive sleep-away camp training. Kerry taught her commands that helped Maggie calm down. She also taught my husband and I how to continue the commands and how to interact with Maggie. Kerry was with us the day Maggie met her new baby brother. We are happy to say that Maggie is now the best, most well behaved big sister!!!
Since the training she has listened better…
I called Kerry at Flash Dog Training because I felt I had tried everything with my Australian Shepherd, and nothing was working. Nell’s behavior was going from bad to worse, and I didn’t know what to do. Not only was her leash reactivity out of control towards other dogs, but she exhibited other aggressive behavior towards people and dogs (especially ones on TV in our home). This was a very big issue for me, as we spend a lot of time hiking on busy trails here in Colorado.
After meeting with Kerry, I committed to the 3 week board and train program and I couldn’t be happier that I did. Kerry taught Nell how to be more confident as a dog, how to work with the e-collar, and most importantly that she can socialize and even play with other dogs. She has also taught me how to be a better leader and owner for my dog. I can tell now that Nell looks to me for guidance and direction, rather than feeling like she has to defend herself against perceived threats because of her lack of confidence in me. Since Nell has come back into my home, she has been a better listener, more confident, and exceptionally well behaved on every hike with other dogs I have taken her on. If you considering help for you and your dog, don’t hesitate to call Flash Dog Training…you will not regret it.

With the tools that Kerry gave us, we now take her out and about all the time with the confidence that we are in control…
Our experience with Flash Dog Training has completely changed our lives. Up until Pepper went through 4 weeks of board and train with Kerry, we had lost hope in fixing some of her behavioral issues and we were actually changing our lives to cater to her instability. We were no longer going on hikes, taking her out in public, etc. because she simply could not handle herself around strangers, dogs, or people riding bicycles. Leading up to our decision to contact Kerry, we had tried extensive positive reinforcement training as well as rounds of different medications and nothing was working. After using balanced training with Kerry, it became clear to us that Pepper needed stronger leaders to guide her through life and the tools Kerry gave us enabled us to be that for her. We were finally able to effectively communicate with Pepper in a way where she actually listened to us as opposed to taking matters into her own hands.
Before Pepper’s board and train, the sight of a person riding a bicycle would cause her to completely shut down. She was so fearful that she would go into hiding and not even her favorite toys or the most delicious food could bring her out. While this issue is so severe that it will always be a work in progress, she can finally see a bike pass by with little to no reaction! Pepper’s extreme excitement and demanding attitude when seeing another dog used to be so uncontrollable that we would avoid hiking and taking her out into public. Now she can walk by other dogs (even ones that are reacting to her) will little to no reaction. Her fear of strangers has always been an issue for us because her reactions were so unpredictable that we wouldn’t dare take her out in public with the fear that she could react and we wouldn’t have any control of the situation. With the tools that Kerry gave us, we now take her out and about all the time with the confidence that we are in control. We are now finally able to proactively work on socializing Pepper with strangers without the fear that something could go terribly wrong.
All in all, Pepper’s training with Kerry has been worth every penny. Our only regret is that we wish we would have gone to her sooner.

I can now take Atlas on trails off leash and feel a sense of relief instead of stress…
I reached out to Flash Dog Training after countless failed adventures where Atlas ignored all commands and got himself into trouble by going face to face with unknown leashed dogs while I was giving him the freedom to be off leash. Atlas used to practice selective hearing, somedays he listened and other days it felt as if he didn’t even know his own name. We had been working on recall primarily and had been approaching it all wrong. Nothing I tried worked. I would give him freedom he hadn’t earned which almost always resulted in me leaving each adventure in tears or feeling frustration toward Atlas. He also had issues of over excitement when greeting new dogs and would relentlessly push himself into their space.
With Kerry and Bre’s help through the introduction of balanced training and use of both a prong collar and e-collar, Atlas is able to properly greet new dogs, understand personal space and come when called away from ANY distraction. I can now take Atlas on trails off leash and feel a sense of relief instead of stress. The communication we have established feels more freeing than anything in the world. Sending Atlas to the three week board and train program was the best decision I have ever made for the wellbeing of Atlas and I’s relationship. If you are seeking professional training or at a loss of where to turn to next, call Flash Dog Training. They are guaranteed to have a solution that works for you and your dog!

Zahra gained so much freedom through her e-collar training, and I gained a sense of safety and control over my dog…
Zahra and I were referred to Kerry from another trainer in town who told us she was THE expert in e-collar training. At the time, while I was head over heels in love with my adorable new border collie puppy, I was also losing my mind trying to manage her incessant energy on my own. While I consider myself a pretty active person, Zahra came in to the world like a lightning bolt of nonstop energy and engagement. She was whip-smart and ready to learn/play/work ALL DAY LONG – and then some. I knew that I needed to find a way to combine Zahra’s exercise with mine if I was going to continue managing my busy work schedule and her needs, so I wanted to take us both on long hikes every week. Fortunately we live in gorgeous Colorado, so the mountains are literally our playground!
Last year I enrolled Zahra in Kerry’s 3-week e-collar board and train program while I was traveling over the holidays, and I honestly am not sure I’ve ever spent better money. Zahra gained SO much freedom through her e-collar training, and I gained a sense of safety and control over my dog. Today, when she sees me pull our her e-collar, she starts leaping with excitement because she knows it means that we’re going outside on some kind of adventure, and usually one that involves her getting to run at top speed to her little heart’s content. Watching Zahra run and leap in the mountains is one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen. She’s like a blur of white fur – practically flying and barely touching the ground!
I Iive in a VERY busy part of Denver, but with her e-collar on I can also let her off-leash in the middle of a nearby city park, and have full confidence that she is safe to play Frisbee with me without EVER running towards cars or other dogs. She just gets it. It’s amazing. I can’t even feel her recall level on the e-collar! We do this a few times a week when things are busy and we can’t make it to the mountains.
Kerry also installed a much-needed ‘off’ switch in Zahra – and my favorite of all commands, “Place!” I can’t even say enough about how much this changed our lives. Having the ability to tell Z to calmly stay in place while I have guests over, or need to work, is amazing. She also helped Z learn to LOVE going into her kennel, where she can also rest and turn off. Z screamed in her kennel for the first 2 months of her life so again, I can’t express how much relief it brought us both for this to stop being such a challenge.
Finally, Kerry helped me learn a ton about feeding Z a raw diet – and we’re now forever fans. Several vets were unable to fix Zahra’s sensitive tummy issues and 2 AM diarrhea episodes – once we had her on a the raw diet recommended by Kerry, her fur got shinier, she started liking eating, and she hasn’t has ANY tummy troubles since!
Kerry will forever be family to me and Zahra and I’m so grateful to call her a friend as well as an incredible resource.

E collar training has tremendously helped strengthen my bond with Kiana…
Kiana and I had spent 30 weeks in dog training classes, hoping that with time we could work on her leash aggression, nervousness, and protectiveness around stranger dogs and humans. It got to a point where I dreaded going on walks around the park or on hikes with her because her reactivity was out of control and it wasn’t getting any better. After doing extensive research online I stumbled upon Flash Dog Training and read some of the reviews of other dog parents who had the same issues I was having. I finally reached out to Kerry and Bre at Flash Dog Training to see if they could help us and committed to a 4 week Board and Train.
Not going to lie, at first I was slightly skeptical, but also desperate. I had tried for 8 months to work on her reactivity and nothing had worked, so what could they really do in 4 weeks? Turns out 4 weeks at Flash Dog Training made a WORLD of a difference.
E-collar training has tremendously helped strengthen my bond with Kiana. She now trusts me to be in control and have her back, so she doesn’t feel the need to take control of the situation herself. It’s been an incredible tool that has enabled me to communicate with Kiana in a way that that she understands. We have been able to have an absolute blast off AND on leash on trails and around parks and ensure that we and everyone around us is safe. I can’t thank Kerry and Bre at Flash Dog Training enough for helping us through this and I will be forever grateful!
We’ve had him back for a week, and are amazed at all that has been possible with him…
Signing our dog up for Flash Dog Training was one of the best decisions we ever made. When we adopted Ollie from a shelter 2 years ago, we quickly realized there would be many issues to work through. When left in his kennel, he would incessantly bark and try to chew through it. When at the dog park, he would “bully” certain dogs. When out for a walk, he would bark and growl at any dog he saw across the block. And when we took him on hikes, he would only come back to us when he felt like it. We signed up for a positive reinforcement training in Seattle and after almost a year of little improvement we asked ourself “Shouldn’t this be working by now?” We were left feeling overwhelmed and helpless and wondered if this was the life we’d have to get used to with him.
When we stumbled upon Flash Dog Training, we were initially hesitant because it was so far away, and so different from everything we learned so far. But it became clear that balanced training has so many more benefits for actually building communication with a dog, and that Kerry’s training had worked magic for many others. Retraining Ollie’s habits away would be a round-the-clock deal, and Kerry’s team seemed so streamlined to make every day count as much as it can.
We’ve had him back for a week, and are amazed at all that has been possible with him. He isn’t a robot — he’s still clearly the same dorky little dog, but with much more confidence, trust and presentness with his humans. He doesn’t get nervous when we walk to another room and is happy to spend time with himself. He loves his kennel and will often go into it without being asked. He stays by our side when we want him to, and can even be walked past another dog on a sidewalk without a reaction. Yes, it takes work from us to help him keep this up, but Kerry spent multiple training sessions with us when we picked him up that have helped us understand all that we have to do from this point forward.
Flash Dog Training has opened up our world together, and we couldn’t be more grateful. When we get another dog, we won’t hesitate to drive the 6 hours back to Bend. Thank you so much, Kerry and team!
Sincerely,
Catie and Dan

Walks with him are now actually enjoyable!
Before Flash Dog Training, walking our Newton, an 80-pound Great Pyrenees mix, was awful. He’d pull, bark, and lunge, always trying to protect us from the scary trucks, kids on bikes, the guy in a hat, a branch that swayed in the wind. We had worked with multiple dog trainers over the years to improve Newton’s reactivity and his confinement anxieties relating to crating. Nothing worked, until he spent three weeks at Flash with lead trainer Ali.
Walks with him are now actually enjoyable. He looks up and checks in constantly. He has recall — which was something we honestly never expected due to his breed mix. (Great Pyrenees tend to wander.) When hiking, we now don’t have to pull off the trail to let people pass. He’s unbothered and not reactive when we pass other dogs and hikers. What is even more astonishing to us is that we can crate him. As soon as we grab a tasty high-value treat, he runs into his kennel. He quietly chomps away as we close the kennel door and leave for errands.
Because of Flash Training, Newton is less reactive, much calmer, and able to look to us for direction. We’ve been so happy with his progress that we’re about to send our newest-adopted pup to Board and Train at Flash as well.

Their recall off leash is amazing and we trust them anywhere
We took our dogs, Auggie and Blue, to Flash Dog Training when they were both a little over a year old. After months and months of “do-it-yourself” training, we realized that much of what we were doing was not working. Auggie, a stubborn and happy-go-lucky field golden, pulled like crazy on his leash and his recall was great until there was a distraction like a bird, other dog, or squirrel. He also could not control his excitement when other dogs or people would show up to our house or we would encounter them on a trail. Blue, a more nervous but highly energetic collie mix, had trouble relaxing and didn’t like to do anything that she was told to do. On leash walks, she used to love grabbing the leash in her mouth, shaking it, and trying to escape from it. Of leash, rather than getting in the car after a hike or ski at trailheads, she would race around barking at us and refuse to come. Similar to Auggie, we thought her recall was great–until it wasn’t because of something she wanted to do more than come to us. Ultimately, we knew that based on our lifestyle, both us and our dogs would be happier if we did some sort of formal training.
After doing research, we landed on Flash Dog Training and submitted a form online. Ali, the Head Trainer in Colorado, quickly followed up on our inquiry, explained the training process, and answered our questions. We were immediately impressed with the program that they offered and couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. After dropping our dogs off, Ali was communicative and responsive if we had questions, and filled us in on progress as the training progressed. One thing that stood out the most about Ali and Flash Dog Training was the individualized approach they took with each dog. Auggie was highly food motivated and wanted to please, and the Flash Dog team used this as the foundation for his training. Blue, on the other hand, was not food motivated and highly skeptical of anyone telling her what to do. For her, the Flash Dog team focused heavily on building her trust and formed a relationship with her before getting deep into the training. Ultimately, the outcome was the same for both–they came home happy and in many respects it is still hard to imagine how much they learned in their 3 weeks.
Both now love to learn and thoroughly enjoy refresher trainings (both with us and Ali). Their recall off leash is amazing and we trust them anywhere–distractions or otherwise. It is hard to emphasize to those who don’t have e-collar trained dogs the freedom it brings to both you and your dogs. But once you have them you will never go back. They can enjoy themselves off leash, explore, and do dog things, and you have the piece of mind to know that even if a squirrel, moose, or other dog pops out on a trail your dog will come back to you when you call and ignore the distraction. It takes work to get here, but Ali and the Flash Dog team lay the foundation for it. Additionally, both dogs now understand and enjoy walking on a leash. We can take them anywhere dogs are allowed, like the hardware store, and they will heal throughout, ignoring other people and dogs. Further, the work Flash Dog does with commands like place help give you dogs a better chance to relax at home. The best example of this is when we have guests or other dogs come over, our dogs now wait on there place for the excitement to subside before we release them to say hello. This simply would not have been possible without Flash Dog Training.
I don’t think either of us imagined that a dog training program would change our lives and relationship with our dogs as much as Flash Dog Training did. We will be forever grateful for Ali and the Flash Dog Training team. They do amazing work and we recommend them to all of our friends, many of whom have taken their dogs to Flash Dog Training and now have seen the results for themselves first hand. If you are looking to train your dog, Flash Dog Training is the best out there. We hope that everyone can experience the transformation that we did.
Breck’s improved quality of life is a testament to the dedication, expertise, and patience of the trainers at Flash Dog Training.
I am thrilled to share my incredible experience with Ali and the team at Flash Dog Training and how it has transformed the life of my anxious and reactive dog, Breck. Before we discovered this fantastic facility, Breck’s anxiety, and reactivity had become serious issue, making it difficult for us to even go for a simple walk without fear of a negative encounter.
From the moment we reached out to Flash Dog, their professionalism, empathy, and genuine care for Breck’s well-being were evident. Ali took the time to understand Breck’s history, his triggers, and our specific concerns, assuring us that their customized board and training program would help Breck overcome his anxiety and reactivity.
Throughout Breck’s time at the training facility, Ali kept us updated with regular progress reports and photos, showing us the various exercises and techniques they used to help Breck grow more confident and calm. It was heartwarming to see Breck’s transformation from a nervous and unpredictable pup to a well-mannered and self-assured dog.
Upon Breck’s return home, we were amazed at the difference in his behavior. He now walks comfortably on a leash, maintaining a calm demeanor even in the presence of other dogs and unfamiliar people. The training techniques we learned from the facility have empowered us to reinforce Breck’s new behaviors and continue building on his progress.
Breck’s improved quality of life is a testament to the dedication, expertise, and patience of the trainers at Flash Dog Training. We will be forever grateful for their positive impact on Breck’s life and our own. We highly recommend Flash Dog Training to any dog owner seeking to address behavioral issues and strengthen their bond with their furry companion.
Thanks for everything

Colorado Labrador Retriever Dog Training Success Story
I adopted my lab mix “Maisie” at 8 months old and she came with some challenging behaviors including anxiety and reactivity. Taking Maisie on walks was always anxiety-producing since we live in an urban area with lots of people, dogs, bikes, and small critters. I worked with different trainers and vets over the next 2 years, but was not getting results and felt like I was failing my dog.
I was a bit hesitant at first of using a balanced training approach due to the stigma around e-collars and prong collars, but it was clear a more intensive approach was needed. My colleague recommended Flash Dog Training, so I decided to pull the trigger and spend the money. This was the best decision I could have made! My dog spent 3 weeks under the incredible care of Ali and her team of trainers. They were not only diligent about teaching Maisie, but also preparing me with the tools and understanding of how to support my dog. I received weekly updates and a training session with my dog half way through the program and then again at the end. I could also get a hold of Ali with any questions or concerns.
We are about 6 months out of the program and Maisie continues to improve. She is still my sweet and playful pup, but seems so much more secure and confident. The work is never done and I know I can always reach out to Ali with any questions or concerns. Thank you, Flash Dog Training, for making a difference in our lives! 100% recommended.
FDT Graduate Success Story In OREGON
Sending both of our dogs, a 6-month-old high energy puppy, along with our 10 year old rescue, to Flash for training is one of the best decisions and investments we’ve made. Our older rescue dog, Marley, has struggled with leash reactivity, pulling, and various triggers (skateboards, loud trucks, scooters, and more) for years. Despite working with various trainers, we never found the right style or tools to address the root of his behavior effectively. Avoiding certain situations or areas became a norm, and it became a source of frustration and stress for all of us. Our newly adopted rescue puppy, Finn, brought different challenges. With boundless energy and a tendency to get easily excited, he struggled to sit still or settle, always seeking attention or playtime with our older dog. He was also going through fear periods: getting spooked by everyday objects (strollers) and noises (kids playing, construction) during walks. We quickly realized that addressing these issues head-on and establishing strong, consistent communication between both dogs was incredibly important. Flash’s board and train program stood out from the beginning. Their facilities were spotless and it was clear they tailored their training approach to each dog’s personality and quirks, making us feel completely confident (for the first time) leaving them in their care. Our trainer, Amanda, has been exceptional throughout our entire training journey. Her commitment to both dog’s training and continued progress has been evident every step of the way. Despite our dog’s contrasting personalities and challenges, Amanda understood their individual needs and provided tailored advice for each of them – and has cheered on our wins every step of the way. Unlike some other training programs, Flash has provided us with tools, follow-up lessons, and support, to ensure that the training has been consistent and easy-to-follow now that they’re home. This has been paramount to their continued success. Both dogs have undergone incredible transformations that have made our relationships with them stronger and more joyful. Our older dog, Marley, no longer pulls on leash and looks to us for guidance. His body language is relaxed and he’s no longer on edge, which has reduced or eliminated most of his leash reactivity. Our adolescent puppy, Finn, now understands how to relax and settle using the invaluable ‘place’ command and has gained an enormous amount of confidence. He’s no longer fearful or spooked around new sounds or sights, heels and looks to us for direction, and isn’t as easily distracted in stimulating environments. The positive impact of Flash’s training program cannot be overstated. I’m now comfortable taking them on walks together – something that had started to feel impossible – even in busy areas with past triggers. One of the most impactful breakthroughs has been with Flash’s e-collar training. This newfound trust in their training and recall has opened up a world of off-leash adventures for us. Watching our dogs explore the outdoors, unrestricted and free, fills us with an overwhelming sense of happiness. We are so grateful for finding Flash and the immeasurable difference they have made in our and our dog’s lives!
Success Story from Cheryl Montgomery with Sebastian and Olive.
I’m not sure what our lives would have been without Flashdog apart of it. Chaos? A disaster? Or worse, what would our dog’s lives have been? When I first met Olive, she was a 1 year old rescue so calm and collected; an old soul I knew had wisdom beyond my years. One crate over was a litter of rambunctious puppies yapping wildly; Olive sat unphased. Little did I know that only the crate was stopping her from what she calls “correction”, taking matters into her own paws – and what everyone else calls pure and vicious aggression. We would soon find out, that hard way.
One year later, we did the Covid thing. Two new puppies, one for each of my grown daughters. Home all the time, we got this. I’ve had dogs, difficult ones, my whole life. One human aggressive dog, wild teenage Rottweilers. Court a few times for vicious dog tickets. I thought I’d seen it all. Until Olive. As one puppy grew up, Olive’s “corrections” grew more and more fierce. Soon we were breaking up fights every other day. How could this calm, sweet, highly intelligent dog turn into a loaded weapon with the slightest of looks from our other sweet puppy?
Desperately, we searched for help. Went through multiple training ideas, scoured every well known dog expert’s books (Sorry, not even becoming dedicated Cesar fans helped), hired expensive in home trainers. And then my daughter found Flashdog, and we met our family’s savior – Ali, Head trainer at the Colorado location. With one welcoming, professional, responsive and empathetic meet and greet conversation – we entrusted not one but all three of our dogs in a heartbeat to Flashdog. Their training did not just teach and rehabilitate our pups, it was tailored to the whole dynamic of our family, and more importantly, Ali kindly and expertly taught us. Countless hours, questions, situations, concerns addressed then, now, and hopefully forever more – we will always need Flashdog in our family. Which has grown. Olive now has a little baby brother. And already a Flashdog puppy student graduate he/we have a happy, healthy, and now fully complete family: humans, dogs, puppies…and last but not at all least, our dog trainer.
